PORTLAND, Ore. – Two Pilots are slated to be honored at the 2026 Oregon Sports Awards presented by Sport Oregon on Nov. 10, with Portland Women's Soccer legend Christine Sinclair being inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and Portland Men's Soccer head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt being named the 2026 Oregon Sports Person of the Year.
"The Oregon Sports Awards bring together all the key players in our sports community to commemorate the past, celebrate the present, and imagine the future of athletics in Oregon," said Jim Etzel, CEO of Sport Oregon, via press release. "We're excited to host not only the honorees, but all the people and organizations that are working to enhance our communities through sport."
Sinclair is one of the most accomplished athletes in Portland Pilots history. Sinclair guided Portland to two national championships during her time here in 2002 and 2005 and is Portland's all-time leader in goals (110), game-winning goals (38) and points (252) and is eighth all-time in assists (32). Her 39 goals in 2005 still stand as the most ever by any collegiate player in a single season. She twice won the prestigious MAC Hermann award, doing so in 2004 and 2005, and was also named the 2005 Honda Broderick Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year in 2005. She was an All-American every year she played with the Pilots.
Both during and after her career on The Bluff, Sinclair experienced great success in both international play and professionally. She earned a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as well as bronze in 2012 and 2016 and ended her international career as the all-time leading scorer in international soccer history at 190 goals. Professionally, she returned to Portland in 2013 to join Portland Thorns FC, where she won three NWSL Championships in 2013, 2017 and 2022 respectively.
Carlin-Voigt, meanwhile, put together one of the most accomplished seasons in program history in 2025. The Pilot men posted a 14-2-4 record and made the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the second time in four seasons. The Pilots' winning percentage (.800) was the best by any Pilot squad since the 1988 season. They ranked in the top 10 of the national polls every week from September onwards and reached as high as first in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, marking the first time they've reached that height in any poll since 1992. Their sixth-place finish in the United Soccer Coaches postseason poll was their highest ever. Carlin-Voigt is the first Pilot to win the award since 2002, when the legendary Clive Charles earned the honor.
The 2026 edition of the Oregon Sports Awards will take place on Nov. 10 at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
