THIS WEEK
• The Portland Pilots hit the road for a pair of nonconference matches in Ashland, Ore., taking on Simpson and Southern Oregon at Raider Beach Courts.
• Portland opens the weekend against Simpson on Friday at 3 p.m. (PST) before wrapping up the two-day stretch with matches on Saturday against Southern Oregon at 10 a.m. (PST) and Simpson at 12 p.m. (PST).

LAST WEEK
• The Pilots capped the Corban Invitational with a dominant 5-0 sweep of Chaminade after dropping their first two duals of the weekend to Corban (5-0) and Sacramento State (4-1).
• Against Corban, Portland was competitive across multiple courts despite the 5-0 final. Sarah Incitti and Tate Mercer (No. 2) and Valerie Bruk and Michela Strati (No. 3) each forced three-set matches, while Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson pushed the No. 1 pair to a tight 26-24 second set.
• The Pilots earned their first point of the season against Sacramento State as Freytag and Larsson delivered a straight-set win at the top flight, 21-9, 21-16. Three other courts went the distance, including a tight three-set battle at No. 3 that featured extra points in the first two frames.
• Portland responded in their final dual, sweeping Chaminade on all five courts. Freytag and Larsson rallied after dropping the first set at No. 1 to win 18-21, 23-21, 15-5, while the remaining four pairs secured straight-set victories. Incitti and Mercer controlled the No. 2 match, Bruk and Strati handled the No. 3 flight, and the duos of Jeryn Hildenbrand/Nyah Mitchell and Josie Povey/Greta Kesmodel sealed the sweep to close the weekend on a high note.
 
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Dylan Hamilton steps into his third year as the lead coach of the beach volleyball program, with assistant coach Kili Robins returning to the Bluff for her second season. Joining the program is Madi Culp, volunteer assistant coach.
• The Pilots return six players from last year's roster: Michela Strati, Valerie Bruk, Elizabeth Ortiz, Melissa Cormack, Leonie Freytag and Hannah Debban.
• The beach volleyball program welcomes four new athletes to their roster including Greta Kesmodel, Tate Mercer, Sarah Incitti, Lillian Lansing, Jeryn Hildenbrand, Josie Povey, and Nyah Mitchell.
• Elin Larsson and Jeryn Hildenbrand are returning from the Pilot's 2025 indoor roster.
• Pilots finished 2024 season with a 5-17 record.
