ASHLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots opened their weekend in Ashland in dominant fashion, sweeping Simpson 5-0 to even their overall record at 2-2 on the season.

Portland controlled the match from start to finish at Raider Beach Courts, winning all five courts in straight sets. The Pilots struck first in flight 2, where Sarah Incitti and Tate Mercer secured a 21-14, 21-14 win over Tiara Manns and Emily Melo. Shortly after, Nyah Mitchell and Jeryn Hildenbrand followed with 21-10, 21-12 victory in flight 4 to give Portland a quick 2-0 advantage.

With the momentum, Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson clinched the team win in flight 1, defeating Kimora McKechnie and Brooklyn Jimenez 21-14, 21-15. The Pilots continued to roll through the remaining matches. In flight 3, Valerie Bruk and Michela Strati earned a 21-15, 21-13 win, and Greta Kesmodel and Josie Povey closed out the sweep with a 21-17, 21-12 victory in flight 5.

The Pilots return to the sand tomorrow in Ashland, facing Southern Oregon at 10 a.m. (PST) before taking on Simpson again at 12 p.m. (PST) to close out the weekend.
