SEATTLE, Wash. - The Portland Pilots competed in four duals at the Alki Beach Invitational over the weekend, facing Boise State, Washington, Florida Atlantic, and Oregon.
Â
Portland opened the tournament on Friday with a 5-0 loss to Boise State. The Pilots pushed the Broncos at the No. 1 position, where Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson forced extra points in the opening set before falling in straight sets. Boise State secured the remaining four courts in two sets to clinch the dual.
Â
Later in the day, Portland took on Washington. Freytag and Larsson captured the first set at the top spot, but the Huskies rallied to win in three sets. Washington won all five matches overall, with four courts decided in straight sets.
Â
On Saturday, the Pilots faced Florida Atlantic, where FAU claimed a 5-0 victory. Portland's No. 1 pair kept both sets close, but the Owls maintained control across the lineup to earn the sweep.
Portland wrapped up the weekend against Oregon. The Pilots competed closely in several matches, including tight second sets on courts one and four, but the Ducks secured straight-set wins on all five courts.
Â
Up next, the Pilots wrap up their season at the WCC Championships, set for April 23–24 at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, Calif.
