PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots dropped their penultimate game of the 2025-26 regular season 70-63 to the Pepperdine Waves. The loss drops Portland to 16-13 on the year and 10-7 in WCC play.
Florence Dallow battled on the court for a historic stat line, tallying 15 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and five assists for the first double-double of her career. No player in WCC history has put up that stat line and just 37 other players since the 1999-00 season to have ever put up those numbers. She's the third Pilot to record a double-double this season and the first Pilot since Alex Fowler in 2021 season to grab at least 15 boards in a game.
Tiffany Barbosa was lights out from outside, pouring in five 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 19 points along with five rebounds. Julia Dalan had just four points in her return, but tallied four blocks to reach 69 on the season. With 69 blocks, Dalan broke the program record for blocks by a true freshman in a single season, set by Rosemary Adams previously in the 1990-91 season. Dyani Ananiev had four blocks herself to set a career high and added three steals as well, scoring 10 of her 14 points in the second half.
How it Happened
The Pilots and Waves started off in a rock fight, with neither gaining a clear advantage offensively. Pepperdine scored the first wave of buckets with a 6-0 run, but the Pilots ended the quarter with a 7-0 run themselves, with Dallow scoring all seven of those points. Despite the run, Pepperdine led 15-14 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Pilots get a quick bucket from Dallow to extend her personal run to 9-0. But the Waves responded with a 7-0 run of their own to retake the lead. Portland scored just five points in the quarter and trailed 26-21 in the game.
The Pilots and Waves combined for 41 points in the third quarter. Both teams traded buckets until an 8-0 run from the Pilots finally put them in the lead. But the Waves got to both the line and in the paint to put themselves back in front. The Pilots cut the lead back down to two points before a late 3-pointer and free throw put the Waves up 47-41 to end the quarter.
A quick five points from the Waves put the Pilots down by 11 points to start the fourth quarter, a deficit the Pilots could not cut into enough. The Pilots fell 70-63 despite a late push.
