How it Happened
It was an eventful game from the jump, with Niagara scoring the first two runs. Dakota Chun put the Pilots on the board with an RBI double down the left field line to make it just 2-1 Purple Eagles. Portland added two more in the second inning, scoring on a stolen base and throwing error as well as an RBI single from Bean. The Pilots led 3-2 through two innings.
Niagara tied things up with an RBI single in the third, but that didn't last long. Salk blasted his first home run of the year in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs for the Pilots to make it 5-3.
The fourth inning saw the Purple Eagles scored one run on a sacrifice fly, with the Pilots scoring two runs again in the bottom frame. Salk hit a sac fly to bring home Chun, then Katayama-Stall hit an RBI single to get a run across the plate before Trey Swygart could get thrown at home. The two runs made it 7-4 Pilots.
Niagara scored one more run in the fifth before Bean hit his first homer of the year in the sixth. A bomb straight to center put the Pilots back up three runs, putting the score at its final. A combination of Hoskinson and Newmann closed things out for Portland 8-5.
