SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference officially announced on Sunday the brackets for the 2026 Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Basketball Championships, with Portland Pilots Women's Basketball seeded fifth in the tournament.
As the No. 5 seed, the Pilots earn a bye straight to the third round of the tournament, meaning they'll play on Saturday, March 7 at 12 p.m. The Pilots will play the winner of Game 3, which currently has the Pacific Tigers as the 8-seed playing the winner of the 9-12 matchup between the Washington State Cougars (9-seed) and the Seattle U Redhawks (12-seed).
The Pilots earned the fifth seed after finishing the regular season with a 17-13 overall record and an 11-7 record in WCC play. They secured the fifth seed yesterday with a thrilling overtime win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs, their first win over the Zags in the regular season since 2009 and their first at home since 2001.
Portland has experienced great success under head coach Michael Meek in the WCC Tournament. They won WCC titles in 2020, 2023 and 2024. Their win in 2020 was the first since 1994, and they became the first non-Gonzaga back-to-back champions in 2023 and 2024 since the Pepperdine Waves did so back in 2003. It was the first time in program history they'd ever won back-to-back WCC Championships. Portland has won the tournament four times total including that 1994 season.
The tournament officially begins on Thursday, March 5 and runs through Tuesday, March 10. All games will be streamed on ESPN+, with the championship being streamed on ESPN2. Check PortlandPilots.com for information on how to follow along or check tournament central with the
