How it Happened
After two scoreless innings, Portland broke through in the third. Runs poured in starting with Swygart's RBI single. A sac fly from Dakota Chun set up Salk to drive in Bean from second, then another sac fly from Cole Katayama-Stall and a double from Miller made it 5-0 Portland.
LMU scored on a fielder's choice and an error in the bottom of the sixth to bring home two runs and make it 5-2 Pilots. But Portland responded quickly, with Chun, Katayama-Stall, Miller and Carter Stewart all bringing home runs in the seventh inning.
Osborne made the most of his first hit of his college career, mashing a two-run shot over the left field wall in the top of the eighth to make it 12-3 Portland. LMU added a run in the eighth that was immediately negated by an RBI hit from Swygart in the ninth. Segel closed it out on the mound to make it a 13-4 win for Portland.
