PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland swept the Saint Mary's Gaels by a 5-0 margin Sunday in West Coast Conference men's tennis action at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.

The Pilots (7-13, 1-5 WCC) grabbed the early advantage by securing the doubles point. Tom Garcia and Eli Noel defeated Francisco Duran and Bastien Maxant 6-3 at the No. 2 position and then Cade Fernando and Nikola Keremedchiev clinched with a 6-4 defeat of Paulo Etchecoin and Juan Pedro Etchecoin at the No. 1 spot.

Garcia doubled Portland's lead with a comfortable 6-2, 6-1 win against Juan Pedro Etchecoin at the No. 3 singles position. Keremedchiev followed shortly thereafter with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Paulo Etchecoin at the top of the lineup.

Stefan Skobelev clinched the team win with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 win over Francisco Duran at No. 4. Fernando outlasted Finley Dyer 2-6, 6-2, 7-6, winning the tiebreaker by a 7-4 margin.

"It's nice to get a couple of wins in a row," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "We had to battle through a few tricky spots today. I am really happy for Tom; nothing has come easy for him this year. He is playing in a high spot in the lineup and going against very good players every match. It was nice to see him and Stef have some easy ones today and hopefully gain some confidence. Cade saving a match point and getting a tough win was also great to see."
