Biography
2014: Started all 52 games … second on the team with 47 hits and 10 doubles … also hit .234 with a home run, 10 RBI’s and 18 runs scored … had 10 multi-hit games, including Portland’s only four-hit performance when he went 4-for-5 at Santa Clara (April 4) … had two doubles at BYU (May 15).
2013: Appeared in just seven games before utilizing medical redshirt season.
2012: All-WCC First Team for second straight season … one of two players to appear in and start all 52 games … led the team with a .314 overall batting average and a .354 mark during league play … also posted team highs of five home runs, 30 RBI’s, 13 doubles, 24 runs, 88 bases, a .476 slugging percentage, a .394 on-base percentage 16 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games … on Feb. 24 and Portland trailing Creighton 2-0 and down to its out, Gill belted a game-tying, two-run home run, sending the game to extra innings and an eventual Pilots win … 4-for-5 with a HR, four RBI’s and two doubles during 10-5 win over Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 19) … ended season with 4-for-4 performance with two RBI’s, two doubles and two walks during win at Seattle (May 27).
2011: Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team … first Pilot since 2008 to be named to All-WCC First Team and All-WCC Freshman Team in the same season … led the Pilots in hitting with a .332 average (61-for-184), three home runs, 33 RBI’s, and 26 runs scored … also drew 20 walks … led the team with 15 multi-hit games and was tied for second on the team with eight multi-RBI games … first career hit was a home run on at Middle Tennessee (Feb. 19) … opened the season with an RBI in his first five career games … went 4-for-4 with two doubles against Air Force (Mar. 19) … recorded a hit in 20 of 22 games in the middle of the season, highlighted by an 11-game hitting streak … homered in back-to-back games against San Francisco on (Apr. 16 & 17) … ended the season on a five game hitting streak (10-for-16, .625).
MADRAS HS: Four-year letterwinner for coach Adam Randall … helped the White Buffaloes reach the 5A state semifinals in 2010 by leading the IMC in average (.571), on-base percentage (.697), slugging percentage (1.012), home runs (42), hits (48), runs (42), RBI’s (41) and walks (35) … named Oregon 5A State Player of the Year, IMC Player of the Year, IMC First Team, All-State First Team, Louisville Slugger High School All-American and Buffaloes Offensive MVP in 2010 … also IMC Player of the Year and All-State First Team in 2009 … received recognition for earning the highest SAT score for the graduating class … also earned varsity letters in basketball (3) and soccer (3).
PERSONAL: Born on August 16, 1992 in Madras, Ore. … parents are Bob and Holly Gill … graduated in 2014 with a degree in communication; currently working towards a masters in mathematics … won a gold medal in 2005 playing for Team USA U12 in the Pan Am games … NFL Punt, Pass, & Kick National Runner-up in 2001 and 2003 … named one of top 11 age group players in the nation by Baseball America in 2005.
