Biography
PORTLAND 2016-17: Started 13 games and appeared in all 33… reached double figures 12 times with a season-high 24 at San Diego (Feb. 25), including 7-of-9 from three-point range… drilled seven three-pointers and scored 21 points in a victory against UT Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 5)… made at least one three-pointer in the first 14 games of the season and buried four or more three-pointers in six games… averaged a career-best 3.0 rebounds per game… 71 three-pointers made is No. 9 in UP single-season history… finished year ranked No. 4 all-time in three-pointers made (192) and No. 5 in three-point percentage (.408).
PORTLAND 2015-16: Started nine games and appeared in all 32… 17 games in double figures, including four 20-point efforts… led the team in three-pointers made (86) and three-point percentage (.411)… third leading scorer (10.4) and second on the roster in points per 40 minutes (20.3)… 86 three-pointers rank seventh in UP single season history… finished season ranked No. 6 in three-point percentage (.406) in school history… erupted for a career high 27 points at San Francisco including a career-high eight three-pointers… scored 20 points in just 15 minutes against Alcorn State… averaged 18.4 points during a seven-game stretch in WCC play, including 21 versus BYU and 23 at LMU.
PORTLAND 2014-15: Appeared in 25 games off the bench… erupted for 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 6-of-8 from three-point range against Valparaiso in 17 minutes of action… double figures scoring in six games…drilled three or more three-pointers in five games… shot 39 percent from three-point range… averaged 23.4 points per 40 minutes, highest on the roster.
PREVIOUSLY: Began his prep career at Lakeside High School in Seattle, Wash. where he led Lakeside to a 21-5 record and the 3A State Championship game as a junior in 2013… named first team All-Metro Conference after averaging 15.1 points per game as a junior and was third team all-league as a sophomore, while playing varsity all three seasons… transferred to Quality Education Academy (QEA) in North Carolina for his senior season and was named the MVP of the Greater Carolina High School Athletic Association, the same conference that produced current Pilot point guard Alec Wintering… averaged 18.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game and was named to the All-Northwest North Carolina Team by the Winston-Salem Journal and also earned All-Tournament honors at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge… QEA was ranked as high as No. 12 nationally during the season and knocked off powerhouse Oak Hill Academy as Tyson came off the bench to drain four three-pointers and score a game-high 18 points in the win… he was moved into the starting lineup on a talent-rich team that sent numerous players to the Division I level.
