Glenna Andrews is the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Development at the University of Portland, where she serves on the department's senior leadership team and provides strategic leadership for academic support, student-athlete development, wellness initiatives, and acts as sport administrator for women’s soccer. She leads a team of professionals dedicated to supporting more than 300 NCAA Division I student-athletes and oversees programming that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, leadership development, mental health and well-being, community engagement, and career readiness.
Since joining Portland Athletics in 2015, Andrews has held progressively advancing leadership roles across academics, compliance, student-athlete development, and athletics administration. She has helped build and implement a comprehensive model for student-athlete success that integrates academic support, mental health resources, leadership education, and holistic development. Among her signature initiatives are the department's Mental Health & Wellness Program, expanded student-athlete support funding, enhanced transfer student processes, and initiatives focused on belonging, leadership, and inclusion.
Under her leadership, Portland Athletics has achieved sustained academic success. The department recorded a 93% Graduation Success Rate, marking the 14th consecutive year above 90 percent. In 2024-25, a record 216 student-athletes earned West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition, while the department maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.50 for the entire academic year, the first time in school history this benchmark had been achieved. Portland's teams also consistently perform well in NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) reporting, with multiple programs earning perfect scores and no programs nearing NCAA penalty thresholds. These achievements reflect Andrews' commitment to creating systems and partnerships that allow student-athletes to thrive academically while competing at the highest level.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Andrews competed in track and field at Lewis & Clark College, where she was a four-year letterwinner and campus leader. She served in leadership roles within the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at both the institutional and conference levels and was recognized as an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Andrews has been recognized throughout her career for leadership and service, including receiving the University of Portland's Hooyboer Award, the Women Leaders in College Sports Rising Star Award, and selection to national leadership programs through the NCAA and Women Leaders in College Sports.
