Biography
NATIONAL TEAM: U.S. Under-20 National Team player pool (2010) … trained with the U-18 U.S. National Team (2009-10), scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over the U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team … played with the U-18 U.S. National Team in La Manga, Spain (Feb. 26 - March 6) … also played for the U-17 Puerto Rican National Team at the CONCACAF Championship in Trinidad in 2008 … played in the 2007 Thanksgiving Interregional for the U.S. U15 National Team … also a member of the 2006 and 2007 National Team Identification Team.
OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: Qualified in the Cal South Olympic Development Pool (G92) in 2006-07, winning the Region IV Championships in Las Vegas and participating in the G92 Regional Camp in Moscow, Idaho.
2012: NSCAA All-West Region Second Team … All-WCC Second Team … WCC All-Academic Honorable Mentions … one of three players to start all 21 games … second on team with six assists and 16 points, third with five goals … also had one game-winner … named CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer (Oct. 29) after scoring two goals during win over Pepperdine (Oct. 26) and notching the game-winner against LMU (Oct. 28) … scored equalizer against Washington State (Nov. 9) in First Round of NCAA playoffs to help send match to PK’s.
2011: Academic All-Region Second Team … WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention … appeared in all 21 matches and made 20 starts … tallied one goal and two assists for four points … her one goal was a game-winner and came against Saint Mary’s on Oct. 16 … assisted on the game-winner at Loyola Marymount on Oct. 28.
2010: All-WCC Honorable Mention … appeared in all 22 games with 12 starts … scored three goals and registered two assists on the season … scored first career goal on Sept. 12 against Penn State, while also adding an assist … notched the game-winner against Loyola Marymount (Oct. 15).
THOUSAND OAKS HS: Earned four varsity letters for head coach Geoff Raives … was a 2010 Parade Magazine High School All-American and a 2010 ESPN Rise Winter All-American … individually ranked by TopDrawer Soccer as one of the top 100 Players to Watch for 2010 after being ranked by TAKKLE as one of the top 50 high school girl soccer players in 2009 … also named to the 2008 NSCAA/Adidas Youth Girls All-Region IV team and was a national selection for the 2008 Adidas Elite Soccer Program … helped lead the Lancers to three consecutive Marmonte League Championship titles (2007-09) and to a No. 4 national ranking by StudentSportsSoccer.com in 2008 … was named to the 2009 All-Marmonte Girls Soccer First Team and was the 2009 team offensive MVP … also lettered all four years in track, and she received the Scholar Athlete Award
CLUB TEAM: Played for Real So Cal (2004-07, 2009), winning multiple championships in 2006: Gothia Cup Youth World Cup, Surf Cup, and Manchester United Premier Cup … also led Real So Cal to titles at the San Diego Surf Girls Cup (2007), San Diego Surf Cup XXIX (2009), and Fall Far West Regional League Championships (2009) … played one year for Slammer FC (2008), winning the U17 Premier Championships.
PERSONAL: Born May 14, 1992 in Long Beach, Calif. … parents are April Dawn and Raymond Cruz … major is marketing… father Raymond played football and ran track at the University of Puerto Rico … her grandmother, Ana Cruz, also participated in the track program at the University of Puerto Rico … sister Nicole played soccer at Cal State Northridge.
