Biography:
Prior to his current position, Handy designed and implemented year-round performance programs for the women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at Lindenwood University, while pursuing his Masters. He also was the head assistant for designing and implementation of speed and resistance training for Lindenwood’s football team.
Spending a period of time with Portland athletics as an athletic sports performance intern from March 2014 to April 2015, and then June to July of 2016, he served as the performance coach for Baseball women’s basketball and women’s tennis. He also assisted with the strength program design and implementation for men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, rowing, and baseball.
Handy graduated from Concordia University with a B.A in Exercise and Sports science, while completing a strength and conditioning mentorship with Concordia’s women’s volleyball and basketball programs. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED and First Air certified, knowledgeable with DNS and PRI, and proficient in basic strength training exercises including Olympics weightlifting and kettlebell training. Handy is a native of St. Charles, Missouri.
