Rick Moller joined the University of Portland staff in the fall of 2016. In addition to serving as the volunteer assistant for the indoor team, Moller is an assistant for the Pilots’ beach volleyball team.

In his three seasons on The Bluff, Moller helped coach the team to several impressive feats, including:

• Entered postseason play for first-time, reaching NIVC Quarterfinals
• First-ever program wins over a Top 10 opponent (#7 USD, 11/10/16), and over a Top 15 opponent (#11 BYU, 10/13/16)
• Received AVCA Coaches Poll votes for first time during week four of 2018 season
• Winningest season since joining the WCC (20 wins 2018)
• Opened 2018 season with a 12-match winning streak
• Most conference wins in WCC-era (10, 2016)
• One First-Team All-WCC Selection (Hannah Troutman 16’)
• One All-Freshman Team Selection (Cali Thompson, 16’)

Moller came to the University of Portland with extensive coaching experience at the youth and collegiate club levels. Most recently, Moller joins UP from Arizona Storm Volleyball Club, where he assisted the 16s team for the 2015-2016 season. Prior to his time in Arizona, Moller coached club volleyball for Space Needle from 2013-2015 and Bishop Blanchet High School from 2013-2014.

A graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Moller played for the Washington Men’s Club Team from 2007-2012 and coached the Washington Women’s Club Team in 2012. Moller has also gained extensive coaching experience by assisting at UW’s volleyball camps since 2014.

In addition to his current duties at the University of Portland, Moller now head coaches the 18s team for North Clackamas Volleyball Club.
