We are now in our third week of school, I have only been to seven days of classes, and life is getting somewhat hectic. This Wednesday we take on University of Oregon, and head out Thursday for the UC Davis tournament! This will be our fourth away tournament in a row, and everyone is anxious to turn away from last weekend’s disappointments and head back in the direction we want to go with the season.
The teachers and students find it astonishing that we are able to maintain the schedule we do, and I think one girl in my Intro to Literature class was actually extremely saddened and distraught when I told her I would be in classes about ten days this month. But I think the team is adjusting to classes on airplanes and in hotel rooms, and I often feel envious that Monica is already comfortable with the work because she never needed to rely on class lectures to do well.
I will be adding a weekly “Quotes by Ron” section in my blog because of the fact that Kati Hronek says some of the most… unbelievable things on a daily basis. The most recent quote of hers is, “When she said right, I thought she meant left!” I am hoping that I may be able to get some sort of a recording device to capture a few of Christina Harris’ moments as well. Criss, as we call her, frequently makes the WEIRDEST grunts and screams whether she is trying to dive for a ball or standing on the sideline watching one of our players swing at a ball. So I am thinking of a way to get some of these hysterical moments documented to share all of you.
We are living the life of “eat, sleep, volleyball, with the occasional day of classes thrown in the mix.” So even though that’s about all we do and it is stressful at times, we are having a blast and we love playing together! Our posters are here, and they look amazing! We can’t wait for our first home game on the 28th, hope to see a lot of people come support!
