SAN BRUNO, Calif. – University of Portland home men's basketball games against Gonzaga and BYU will be televised nationally on ESPN Networks, the West Coast Conference announced on Thursday. Portland will now have at least five games scheduled for national TV as
all three games at the PK80 over Thanksgiving will also be aired on ESPN Networks.
Portland will host Gonzaga on Thursday, January 25 at the Chiles Center at 8 p.m. in a game that will be televised live on one of the three main networks (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU). The Pilots versus BYU on Thursday, February 22 will be aired live on ESPNU at 8 p.m.
The complete Portland basketball schedule will be released soon and a finalized television schedule will follow in the coming weeks.
The WCC will have at least 36 men's basketball games air nationally on ESPN Networks this season, including additional exposure during the 2018 WCC Basketball Championships in Las Vegas.
The WCC will once again be a featured part of ESPN's Thursday night and Saturday coverage. In all, 18 conference games will be showcased on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU during the 2017-18 campaign. WCC basketball will be featured on ESPN's popular Championship Week coverage once again in 2018, with five live telecasts from Las Vegas: two quarterfinal games (Saturday, March 3, ESPN2), the WCC semifinals (Monday, March 6, ESPN or ESPN2) and the championship game on Tuesday, March 6 (ESPN).
The 2018 event will be the 10-year anniversary of the WCC Championships in Las Vegas.
All games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
