PORTLAND, Ore. --- Junior Laiken Dollente led four Pilots in double figures with a game-high 19 points to help the Pilots defeat the Concordia Cavaliers 84-58 in a women’s basketball exhibition game on Monday night the Chiles Center. The Pilots outscored the Cavaliers 47-29 in the second half en route to the win. 
 
Portland led 37-29 at the break and still led by only eight points 2:30 into the second half. That’s when the Pilots caught fire from the floor and embarked on a 24-9 run covering the next nine minutes to put the game out of reach. 
 
Senior Jennifer Wassom scored 13 points in the second half and finished with 15 on the night. She hit three three-pointers, all in the second half.
 
Sophomore Tara Cronin had a solid all-around performance, finishing with 12 points. Freshman ReZina TecleMariam also scored 12 points during her first collegiate action. She added five rebounds, matching Dollente for the team-high.
 
Dollente also led Portland with six assists, while Cronin and senior Karlie Burris each dished out five. The Pilots totaled 23 assists for the game on 30 field goals.
 
The Pilots lit it up in the second half, hitting 17 of their 26 shots (65.4 percent). Portland shot 54.5 percent (30-for-55) overall, while hitting seven of 12 from behind the three-point arc. The Pilots, who set a program record in free throw accuracy last season, went 17 of 23 from the charity stripe.
 
During Portland’s huge second-half run, six different Pilots scored, led by TecleMariam with five points. At one point during the run, TecleMariam connected on back-to-back fast break lay-ups, with Burris feeding her both times. 
 
The lead would grow to 28 as 10 of the 11 Pilots in uniform scored on the night.
 
Danielle Clauson was the only Concordia player to reach double figures, finishing with 14 points. Sara Eischen chipped in with nine. The Cavaliers shot 38.9 percent (21-for-54) from the floor, went 16-for-20 from the line and missed all eight three-point attempts.
 
Portland outrebounded Concordia 34-29 and turned 18 CU turnovers into 19 points. The Cavaliers countered with six points on just 11 UP turnovers.
 
The Portland bench outscored that of Concordia 37-18, and the Pilots held a 19-6 advantage in fast break points.
 
The Pilots next play one more exhibition game at home before opening the regular season on the road. On Saturday, Portland welcomes Eastern Oregon to the Chiles Center for a 2:00 p.m. game.
 
Then on Friday, Nov. 14, Portland opens its non-conference portion of the schedule with a game at Utah State at 4:00 p.m.
