• Wednesday’s game, and all non-televised Portland home games, will have a free video stream provided on PortlandPilots.com.
• All Portland basketball games will be broadcast live on True Talk 800 AM, with a 30-minute pregame show and Bill Johnson calling the play-by-play. The audio simulcast and live game statistics will also be available on PortlandPilots.com.
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Portland (1-2) returns to the Chiles Center after an 83-64 road loss at Montana State on Sunday.
• Sophomore G Kevin Bailey and sophomore C Thomas van der Mars scored 13 points each to lead Portland.
• The Pilots committed 19 turnovers which led to a 24-10 deficit in points off of turnovers.
• Portland is 1-0 at the Chiles Center, a 51-48 victory over Idaho State last Thursday.
• Junior F Ryan Nicholas once again leads Portland. Nicholas averaged a team best 11.5 points and 7.6 rebounds last season. He is posting 15.7 points and 8.7 rebounds through the first three games.
• Bailey is the only other Pilot averaging double figures (11.3).
• Freshmen Oskars Reinfelds and Bryce Pressley played season highs of 20 and 13 minutes, respectively, against Montana State. Pressley posted a season high eight points.
• Junior G Korey Thieleke had his best game as a Pilot, finishing with six points, two rebounds and an assist while playing active defense against MSU.
• Head coach Eric Reveno returns for his seventh year on The Bluff. Assistant coaches Eric Jackson and Mike Wolf also return for their seventh year, while Colin Pfaff returns for his first year as an assistant coach after two years as Director of Basketball Operations. Marshall Cho (Director of Basketball Operations) and Kevin Bruinsma (Director of Basketball Technology) are new to the staff this year.
• Portland is coming off a 7-24 season after winning 60 games from 2008-2011, a stretch that included back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.
• Portland returns three starters and 10 lettermen from last year’s team that finished eighth in the WCC with a 3-13 league record.
• PG Derrick Rodgers is the team’s lone senior.
• Four newcomers join the team: G Oskars Reinfelds, G Bryce Pressley, F Jake Ehlers, and G David Ahern. Ahern is expected to redshirt.
• The Pilots were picked to finish eighth in the nine-team West Coast Conference in the pre-season coaches poll.
• The Pilots were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) for three consecutive seasons from 2008-2011.
• All 11 UP graduates in the last three years and have gone on to play pro ball.
• Portland announced the signing of PG Alec Wintering (Concord, N.C./United Faith Christian Academy) to a NLI on November 14.
ABOUT PORTLAND STATE
• The Vikings (1-1) opened the regular season with a 77-58 victory over Pacific (Ore.) and then dropped an 80-69 decision at Oregon.
• Dre Winston led the Viks against Pacific with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Aaron Moore and Michael Harthun added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
• PSU committed 10 early turnovers to fall behind 32-12 at Oregon, before outscoring the Ducks the rest of the way.
• Winston and Renardo Parker had 15 points each against the Ducks.
• The Vikings return two starters, eight lettermen and add six newcomers to the 2012-13 roster.
• PSU finished last season with a 17-15 overall record and third place finish in the Big Sky Conference with a 10-6 league record.
• Head coach Tyler Geving is in his fourth year at the helm and the Vikings are picked fifth by both the coaches and media in the Big Sky Conference Preseason Polls.
