PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland men's basketball has named Anthony Separovich as an assistant coach, head coach Shantay Legans announced on Tuesday. Separovich brings a wealth of experience and a strong international pedigree to the Pilots.
A proven leader in player development, international recruiting, and high-performance coaching, Separovich comes to The Bluff with a decorated background as a player, program director, and mentor to hundreds of elite athletes. He has served as the AUSA Hoops Program and Recruiting Director since 2022.
In his role, Separovich has been instrumental in recruiting, mentoring and guiding boys and girls basketball players from Australia to earn collegiate scholarships in the United States. A record number of student athletes (500 male and female) represented AUSA in AAU Tournaments across the U.S. in 2025. He helped place more than 100 student-athletes at U.S. colleges over the past three years, including a record 50 in 2024.
Separovich also has extensive head coaching experience at both the club and school levels in Australia. He coached the Norths Bears Club to the 2014 championship and Shore School to an undefeated conference record and state title during the 2020-21 season. His role as Shore School's Basketball Program Director had him overseeing 460-plus athletes and 50-plus staff members.
Separovich played college basketball at NCAA Division II Bloomfield College in New Jersey from 2005-07.
Portland basketball and current head coach Shantay Legans both have a long history of successful basketball recruiting in Australia. The Pilots had four Australians on last year's roster including WCC Freshman of the Year, Austin Rapp, and All-WCC Second Team selection, Max Mackinnon.
Portland has four more Aussies on the 2025-26 roster with incoming transfers Riley Parker and James O'Donnell and freshman recruit Joel Foxwell joining returning redshirt Carlin Briggs.
