2013 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalists
PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland Pilots senior and reigning West Coast Conference Defender of the Year Amanda Frisbie has been named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which was announced on Tuesday. UP has claimed three MAC Hermann Trophies in program history, with Shannon MacMillan (1995) and Christine Sinclair (2004 & 2005) each nabbing collegiate soccer's top honor.
Â
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in college soccer presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete.
Â
15 men and 15 women have been named semifinalists for the 2013 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy. NCAA Division I coaches that are NSCAA College Services members may vote for their top choices Wednesday, Dec. 4 through Tuesday, Dec. 10. Fans can also vote for their favorite player on the
MAC's website hosted by LockerDome, starting Thursday, Dec. 5.
Â
The top three vote-getters for each gender from the combined NSCAA coaches and weighted fan votes will be announced as finalists Thursday, Dec. 12. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
Â
In addition to being the league's top defender, Frisbie landed on the All-WCC First Team. The native of McKinney, Texas, helped the Pilots post nine shutouts on the year, while still finishing second on the team with eight goals and four game-winners. Frisbie also helped the Pilots post a 17-3-1 overall record, record a 10-game winning streak, reach a national ranking of No. 6 and advance to at least the Second Round of the NCAA Playoffs for the 14th straight year.
Â
"This truly is an honor and I'm thrilled just being mentioned among the best players in the country," said Frisbie. "We had a great season and this would not have been possible without all of my teammates. This is a great team and a great program and it has been a privilege to be a part of it for the past four years."
