MALIBU, Calif. --- Portland will look for a crucial West Coast Conference road sweep when the Pilots visit the Pepperdine Waves on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Pilots knocked off Loyola Marymount (71-57) on Thursday in Los Angeles and can move within one game of second place in the league standings with a victory on Saturday.
Junior G Bobby Sharp sparked Portland Thursday with four three-pointers and a team-high 14 points. Junior F Ryan Nicholas added his WCC-leading seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Portland sophomore G Bryce Pressley sat out the second half with a stomach ailment, but is probable to return on Saturday.
The Waves are coming off of a 70-53 home loss to Gonzaga on Thursday. The Bulldogs used a 23-2 run late in the first half to create separation and cruised down the stretch. The Waves were held to a season-low 33 percent shooting and sophomore F Stacy Davis was the lone player in double figures with 12 points.
