University of Portland Extends Exclusive Contract With NikeÂ
PORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland announced today that it has reached an agreement on an eight-year extension with NIKE to be the University's official athletic footwear and athletic apparel for all 15 varsity sports through the 2021-22 school year.
Â
"I'm excited that our relationship with Nike will extend into 2022, which will mark the 20 year anniversary of the partnership," University of Portland Athletic Director Scott Leykam said. "It is truly a partnership on so many different levels. Nike has played a huge role in the growth of not just our soccer programs, but all of our varsity sports, and our location near the company's world headquarters allows us to collaborate in many ways that benefit both parties."
Â
Nike first became an official partner of the University of Portland in 2002, just prior to the school's first women's soccer national championship. The Nike design team also helped create a new logo system for University of Portland Athletics in 2007, and is currently working on a brand refresh that will roll out during the 2014-15 school year.
Â
"We're excited about the future of this partnership and the exciting projects that will come with it in the future," Leykam added. "From improvements to our logo system to better connecting with alums who work at NIKE to hosting events and competitions at the world headquarters, the road ahead is a very promising one."
