Hey everyone!
IT'S SENIOR WEEKEND! This week's blog is dedicated to our amazing seniors.
Let's start with Alyssa. She loves reading, PB & J sandwiches, and plants. She is extremely outgoing and makes it easy for anyone to talk to her. Over the summer, Lys was a regular visitor to our freshmen dorm rooms. She was one of the first people to try to connect and welcome us to the team. Lys loves a good surprise, especially when she has a target. For example, the other day at practice she patiently waited near a puddle that had flooded our field. As Natalie rounded the corner Lys stomped in the puddle, sending waves of rain water towards Nat, drenching Nat, herself, and basically everyone else. The same goes for on the field. She is willing to sacrifice herself, just like with the puddle, for her perky, pretty, passionate, purple Portland Pilots (she made up this name). As a 6' 1'' center back she's hard to miss, watch for #5 this weekend!
Allison loves pets, hoodies, and spending hours getting her ankles taped. Al may not be the loudest and most talkative, but you can always catch her making a funny side comment. It is a rare occasion to see her without a hood (game day hood) on our team walks we take on away trips. As an avid pet lover, Al recently got a hamster named Skipper…although some people (HGB) refer to him as peanut. Just as she's a great mother to Skipper, she is also a great teammate. Her fight and determination on the field is one of a kind and she can deceive any defender. Catch Al playing this weekend in our midfield as #23, you won't wanna miss it!
DJ loves pizookies from BJs, sassy comments, and shoes. We call her "Mama Deej" because we can always count on her to send us a friendly reminder of what to pack for trips, how to dress, or dinner dates. She always wants to help out and is willing to drive us places when we need. DJ is also a real homie when it comes to laundry. She allowed us to use her laundry machines for free… as long as we brought her cookies in return. If there's a tune, you can find DJ dancing just about anywhere. She brings a strong attitude and presence to the field and her heart is always in it no matter what. Deej will be repping #24 this weekend, keep an eye out!
Hanna loves scarves, hugs, and Germany (also America). Hanna is the most positive, encouraging person you will ever meet and has been known to give out fist bumps on game day. She brings this happiness every day during warmups. We start every practice with 5v2 possession and Hanna puts in her full effort, even laying herself out sometimes. We have a joke that every time someone misses a pass, it's to our imaginary player, which Han named Lucas. Also during 5v2, Hanna was trying to get our group to move over and she accidentally said "scoop" over instead of "scoot" over. We never let her forget that one. On the field, Hanna is a ninja goalkeeper. Make sure to cheer for #1 this weekend!
Ellie loves cookies, biking, and brushing out her tough curls. If you're ever looking for Ellie, you can catch her in the locker room brushing her hair after her shower. She is always giving encouragement and will help us out whenever we need it. Ellie loves biking so much that she was determined to go on a 12 mile bike ride. She gave it all and ended up going a little too hard, when she flew over her handlebars and had to call quits on the trip. Just like she attempted to do with her biking, she always leaves everything out on the field. If she had a spirit machine for every time she stepped on the field, she would be a bulldozer. Come out this weekend and see #8 smash it!
Can't wait to see you all this weekend as we take on Pacific 10/21 and Saint Mary's 10/23!
