PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior defender Ellie Boon was named to the 2016 West Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic Team as six Pilots total earned recognition. This is Boon's first time on the league's all-academic team after landing honorable mention accolades the past two seasons.
Â
An outside back from Washougal, Wash., Boon just concluded a stellar career on The Bluff by landing on the All-WCC Second Team. She led the Pilots in minutes played this fall, and she collected two assists and scored one goal, which was the game-winner at San Francisco. Boon has a cumulative GPA of 3.47, and she's on pace to graduate with a Biology degree.
Â
Earning WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention for the Pilots are seniors Alyssa Edenstrom and Devlyn Jeter, junior Hannah Griffiths Boston, and sophomores Sarah Jones and Kaycie Young. Edenstrom earns her second straight honorable mention recognition, while it's the first league all-academic accolade for Jeter, Griffiths Boston, Jones and Young. Jones is one of two WCC women's soccer players with a cumulative GPA of 4.00.
Â
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
