NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Three Portland Pilots earned All-American honors and one received Honorable Mention for their performances during the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
Senior Reid Buchanan kicked off one of the best National Championships in program history for the Pilots with his 5
th place finish in the 10,000m. Completing the 25 lap race in 29:13.40 landed him on the First Team All-American list.
Lauren LaRocco received two First Team All-American awards, for her performances in the 5,000m and the 10,000m. In her sophomore season and first trip to Nationals, she first took 4
th in the 10,000 and then 48 hours later finished 6
th in the 5,000m.
Woody Kincaid earned Second Team All-American honors after his 9
th place finish in the 5,000m. The senior topped his previous personal record by 16 seconds and the previous program record by 8 seconds with his time of 13:32.49 during the fast paced race.
In her first trip to Nationals—and first Pilot thrower in program history to compete at Nationals—junior Kaylie Van Loo earned Honorable Mention honors with her 18
th place finish in the javelin.
