PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pilots turned in a strong all-around performance at the Lewis & Clark Electric Forest Open on Saturday at Griswold Stadium, highlighted by multiple event wins and a wave of personal records across the board.
On the track, Portland dominated the women's sprints. Aria Cain led the charge with a first-place finish and PR in the 100 meters (12.03), while also adding a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (24.98 PR). Malia Harvey matched that momentum by winning the 200 meters in a personal-best 24.97, and Alexis Leao added a PR of her own in the same event. Rose Perotin continued the winning streak in the 400 meters, clocking a PR of 58.20 to take first.
In the middle-distance events, Lindsey Kaines captured the 800-meter title with a personal-best 2:12.33, followed closely by Giana Atkinson in second (2:15.91 PR). Megan Crum had a standout day, placing second in the 1500 meters with a PR (4:34.88) and later finishing fourth in the 800 meters with another personal best. The women's 1500 group saw a series of breakthroughs, with Danica Allen, Selena Bangerter, Kate Kabenina, and Julia Ferreira all recording PRs.
The men's distance squad also delivered impressive results, led by Nathan Stein's win in the 1500 meters (3:51.49) and a second-place finish from Giuliano Scasso. Elliot Hawley and Yutaka Roberts each posted personal bests in the event as well. In the 800 meters, Gabriel Morrow and Trey Gannon both ran PRs to finish third and fourth, respectively, with Hawley doubling back for another PR performance.
Portland capped the meet with a dominant showing in the men's 5000 meters, where Jacob Hupke led a deep field with a first-place, PR time of 14:34.73. Bodie Alderson added a fourth-place PR, while several others—including Elliot McIntosh, Alex Althouse, Dalton Kaines, Matthew Cordova, and Xander Penaflor—also notched personal bests. Berlin Herrera highlighted the women's 5000 meters with a fifth-place PR finish.
The Pilots will look to carry this momentum into next weekend as they head to the Pacific Open on March 28 in Forest Grove.
