SEATTLE, Wash. --- Portland freshman defender Natalie Muth scored her second goal of the season as the Pilots tied the Seattle Redhawks 1-1 in the opening game of the Husky Nike Invitational at Husky Soccer Stadium on a wet Friday evening.
Muth, a Scappoose, Ore. native, gave the Pilots (2-1-1) a 1-0 lead when she finished a stellar header on a free kick in the 19th minute. Allison Wetherington whipped the ball into the center of the box where Muth found the inside of the right post from 12 yards out to give the Pilots a one-goal advantage.

The lead was short-live however as the Redhawks (2-1-1) responded nine minutes later when Brie Hooks found the back of the net. Her goal in the 27th minute evened the score 1-1, and the two teams would head into the locker room at half still tied.

Larkin Russell had Portland's first good look in the second half when she tried to hit a shot into the top right corner of the frame from 18 yards out, but Seattle goalkeeper Ashley Routh made a nice save by redirecting it over the cross bar.
Portland senior goalkeeper Hanna de Haan made seven total saves, including a few early throughout the second period as the game went to extra time.
The Pilots controlled the flow for most of the two overtime periods and had the only two shots on goal after regulation. In the first extra session, Kaycie Young forced Routh to make a stop and then early in the second session Wetherington drilled a rocket from 23 yards that Routh touched over the crossbar.
De Haan finished the match with seven total saves.
Next up for the Pilots is their second and final match at the Husky Nike Invitational on Sunday against the Cal Poly Mustangs. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
