THIS WEEK - NCAA PRE-NATIONALS
• The 2018 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals - scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13 - serves as a pre-cursor for the national championships.
• This year's Pre-Nationals will consist of two evenly-seeded races per gender, the "Cardinal" and "White" races. In addition, teams not selected to compete in the seeded races will be placed in the "Gray" race.
• The Portland women will compete in the women's "Cardinal" race at 8 a.m., followed by the men in the "White" race, scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m.
• All races will be held on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, which opened in 2009 and is located adjacent to University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
• This year, Wisconsin will host 18 ranked men's teams in the USTFCCCA's national poll. The #4 Portland men will compete against eight of those teams in the "White" race including: #2 BYU, #8 Syracuse, #12 Washington, #10 Air Force, #13 Purdue, #17 Washington State, #21 Indiana, and #25 UCLA.
• This year's women's field will consist of 20 ranked teams in this week's national poll. The #23 Portland women will race against nine of those teams in the "Cardinal" race, including: #1 Colorado, #4 Oregon, #7 Arkansas, #9 BYU, #13 NC State, #11 Indiana, #18 Ole Miss, #21 Minnesota, and #25 Florida State.

• The Portland women competing are: (Seniors) Lauren LaRocco, Taryn Rawlings, Courtney Cox, Virag Weiler, Becca Howard; (Juniors) Aoibhe Richardson; (Sophomore) Jasmine Fehr.
• Quote - Ian Solof : "This will be a tough test in much colder weather than we had two weeks ago. Lauren is way ahead of where she was and I expect her to be ready for a big race."

• The Pilots will send another group of runners to compete at the Charles Bowles Invite hosted by Warner Pacific on Saturday, at Lents Park in Portland, Ore.
• The Portland Women competing are: (Juniors) Natalie Smith, Maddy Lyons, Karli Piaia; (Sophomore) Lacey Conner, Emily Bechen, Alexandra Newsom; (Freshmen) Savanna Craig, Sofia Castiglioni, Ellee Becker, Katelyn Schultz
• The Portland men's competitors were unavailable.

2018 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• The Portland men opened up the 2018 season by claiming the Portland State Invite. Said Guermali led the Pilots with a first-place finish and was named the WCC Runner of the Week for his performance.
• The Portland women won their second meet of the year, the Oregon Preview. The Pilots placed six runners in the top 10, with redshirt sophomore Susan Van Weperen leading the way with a third-place finish.
• At the Nuttycombe Invite, the men's team placed third and the women took 12th among stacked fields.
• Nick Hauger was named WCC Runner of the week after Nuttycombe for his sixth-place finish. The finish marked the best ever by a WCC representative.
• Lauren LaRocco also earned WCC Runner of the Week honors after finishing 16th overall in Wisconsin.

PILOTS IN THE POLLS
• Men's Cross Country was picked to finish second to BYU in the 2018 WCC Preseason Poll.
• The women were picked to finish third, behind BYU and San Francisco who tied in the WCC Preseason polls with first place votes.
• LaRocco's was ranked in the preseason by FloTrack as the No.19 individual and senior Noah Schutte has been predicted to make a huge jump to No. 22. Schutte was the seventh man for the Pilots at last year's national meet finishing 148th. The Pilot most recently finished 23rd at the European 3K Steeplechase Championships.
• Roudolff-Levisse checked in at the No. 10 men's individual in the preseason FloTrack rankings and the Portland men were picked to finish third as a team.
• The Pilot women have also made an appearance in the FloTrack women's Team poll, checking in at No. 12.
• PRESEASON - USTFCCCA Regional Poll, the men ranked No. 1 in the West region, while the women rank No. 7. In the national poll, the men were ranked No. 3 and the women were receiving votes.
• WEEK 1 - USTFCCCA Poll: the men remained at No. 3, while the women broke into the polls at No. 27.
• WEEK 2: USTFCCCA Poll - the men remain at No. 3 and the women moved down a spot to No. 28.
• WEEK 3: USTFCCCA Poll - the men remain at No. 3 and the women moved down a spot to No. 29. LaRocco moved up to No.18 and Roudolff-Levisse moved up to No. 9 in the FloTrack polls.
• WEEK 4: USTFCCCA Poll - the men moved down to No. 4 and the women moved jumped up to No. 23. Roudolff-Levisse moved down to No.17 in the FloTrack Individual rankings, while senior Nick Hauger jumps into the FloTrack rankings at No.19.
