STANFORD, Calif. –  Portland sophomore Lourdes Ramalle and junior Jelena Lukic each won a pair of singles and advanced to the Round of 32 after the first day of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, hosted by Stanford at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Ramalle posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Portland State's Eszter Zador in her first match and then outlasted Rita Colyer of San Francisco by a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the Round of 64. She moves on to face No. 9-seed Emma Higuchi of Stanford on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Lukic cruised to a pair of straight set wins against Martina Asciuto of Seattle and Clementine Clement of Saint Mary's 6-4, 6-3 in the afternoon. Lukic will face another Stanford No. 9 seed, Janice Shin, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Junior Anna Oberg beat Kelsie Bryant of UC Davis 6-1, 7-5 in the opening round and then dropped a hard-fought three-setter to Elvena Gevargiz from Santa Clara in the evening.

Sophomore Raphaelle Leblanc recorded a three-set win against Laura Malsert of San Jose State, but then was knocked out of the main draw later on Friday by Kimberley Bhunu of Cal Poly 6-0, 7-6.

Portland's doubles tandem of Oberg and junior Emily Soares cruised to an 8-1 win against Stephanie Broussard and Faye Worrall of Eastern Washington. The duo will face Malsert and Mathilda Vidgren of San Jose State at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Round of 32.

ITA's Northwest Region schools are comprised of the following: California, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pacific, Portland, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Stanford and UC Davis.
