LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The No. 13 UCLA Bruins defeated Portland 13-0 on Saturday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium to claim their second straight win over the Pilots, who will look to salvage a win during tomorrow's series finale. Cody Hawken finished with a pair of hits to lead the Pilots.

The Bruins (2-0) took an early lead when Chase Strumpf hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. UCLA added another run in the third before plating three more in the fourth to surge ahead 7-0. Ryan Kreidler produced a two-run single in the fourth, and Will McInerny hit a solo home run down the right field line.

UCLA scored another run in the fifth inning before sealing the win with a five-run eighth.

Hawken's two hits improves his batting average to .750 on the young season.

Portland (0-2) starter Corbin Powers (0-1) takes the loss as the Bruins got the lefty for eight runs on nine hits in 4.0 innings. Powers did strike out three. Relievers Joey Morris and Cameron Richman combined to work 3.0 scoreless innings, with Morris not allowing a hit during his 2.0 innings. Nick Shur was charged with UCLA's five runs in the eighth.

UCLA's Jon Olsen (1-0) yielded just four hits during his 7.0 inning start, and he fanned seven and walked just one. Ryan Garcia and Kyle Mora each worked a flawless inning of relief.
