PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's basketball signed Ty Glover (San Bernardino, Calif./San Bernardino Valley College) to a financial aid agreement, head coach Terry Porter announced on Thursday. Glover will enroll this summer with two years of eligibility remaining with the Pilots.
"Today is one of the best days of my life," Glover said. "I am excited to take my basketball journey to the University of Portland. I couldn't see myself anywhere else and I am proud and honored to be a Pilot."
Glover (6-7, 185) competed last season at San Bernardino Valley College and averaged 8.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He shot 39 percent from three-point range and 51 percent overall from the field.
"We are very excited to add Ty Glover to our University of Portland basketball family and university campus community," Porter said "He brings an exciting blend of skills, size and athleticism to our program. We like the fact that he is a multi-positional player, who plays with a great deal of energy and really competes. We still have a very young roster, so he will also bring a level of maturity and confidence to the floor that I like."
Glover and the Wolverines finished with a 27-5 overall record and advanced to the regional finals of the California Community College Athletics Association.
"Tymoryae is a 6-foot-7, multi-positional perimeter player with elite athleticism," said Quincy Brewer, head coach at San Bernardino Valley College. "He is a two-way player capable of making a significant impact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, his physical gifts enable him to attack the basket and finish at the rim. He is also a capable perimeter shooter with great elevation on his shot. Defensively, his 7-foot wingspan and foot speed make it challenging to score on him – as he can contain penetration without any help, recover quickly and contest shots. I am very excited about seeing him develop under Coach Porter and a well-respected coaching staff at the University of Portland."
Glover was a standout at San Bernardino High School where he averaged 17.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game as a senior. He earned Mountain Valley League Most Valuable Player honors after guiding the Cardinals to a perfect 10-0 record and the league title.
