HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The Portland women's tennis team raced to a sweep of Chaminade in the spring dual opener for the Pilots on Thursday at Ala Moana Park. Portland lost just two games in the six singles and three doubles matches.
Freshmen Angela Schuster and Marija Elenova each posted their first dual singles wins in straight sets at love, and then teamed for a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Junior Emily Soares and sophomore Laura Okazaki, who both hail from Hawai'i, and also had impressive performances in their homecoming.
Chaminade is a member of the NCAA Division II PacWest Conference.
The Pilots will take the court again on Friday and Saturday in the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational. Matches will begin at 12:30 p.m. (PT) on Friday at Kailua Racquet Club and then 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ala Moana Park.
