SEATTLE, Wash --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams concluded the UW Indoor Preview on Saturday, with redshirt senior Logan Orndorf (3:59.94) producing the most impressive performance of the day, becoming the first Pilot in UP history to run a sub-four minute mile. Orndorf surpasses Portland alum Ryan Poland (4:01.28) who last set the record for the indoor mile in 2014
Junior Emmanuel-Roudolff Levisse (4:05.69) and redshirt junior Caleb Webb (4:07.06) both also made their mark in the UP record books in the indoor mile moving up to seventh and ninth all-time.
On the women's side several Pilots ran in their first indoor events of their collegiate career wearing the Pilot jersey. Freshman Jasmine Fehr recorded the best finish for Portland in the mile, placing 17
th overall (4:54.13), followed by senior Becca Howard later in the day, who led the Pilots with a 20
th place finish in the 3000m (10:00.89). For the Portland sprinters, freshman Tara Fuiten produced the best finish for the women' in the 600m, finishing 22
nd (1:39.30), while junior Maya Murphy-Cook posted the best finish in the 200m for the team finishing 23rd overall with a new personal record of 26.25.
"That was a solid opener for us," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "A lot of people are way ahead of last year, Stella Gillman and Tara Fuiten both impressed me and exceeded expectations today."
Both teams will next be in action at the UW invite on Jan 25-26 back in Seattle at the Dempsey Indoor.
