HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Portland sophomore Laura Okazaki had a successful homecoming to Hawai'i by claiming the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational singles title, while the Pilot doubles tandem of Jelena Lukic and Lourdes Ramalle earned the doubles title. The Pilots played against the host Hawai'i Pacific Sharks on Friday at the Kailua Racquet Club and then Saturday at Ala Moana Park.

Tournament winners were determined by games won differential. Okazaki, who hails from Honolulu, defeated Bianca Schulhof 6-0, 6-1 on Friday and then beat Jayme Waites 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday.

Lukic and Ramalle posted a 6-1 win against Mihoki Miyahara and Sarah Ikioka as well as a 6-3 victory against Ikioka and Debora Echeverria.

Portland's nine players finished a combined 15-3 in singles and 5-3 in doubles on the weekend. Lukic, junior Emily Soares and freshman Angela Schuster joined Okazaki in finishing 2-0 in singles.

The Pilots will return to spring dual action on the road against the Washington Huskies on Friday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. in Seattle. Portland's home opener at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center is Friday, Feb. 15 against Montana State at 11 a.m.
