LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The Pilots tallied the equalizer early in the second half and took Loyola Marymount to overtime at Sullivan Field, but the Lions scored the game-winner in the 107th minute to claim a 2-1 win over Portland in a West Coast Conference men's soccer game on Saturday night.

Portland's goal was an own-goal and came in the 52nd minute with the Pilots (5-5-1, 0-2-0 WCC) trailing 1-0. After going quick on a free kick, Ben Ortiz found Rey Ortiz with a short pass in the right corner. Rey Ortiz then sent in a brilliant ball towards the right post, and the ball ended up in the back of the net after taking a deflection off an LMU defender.

Following the Portland goal, Delentz Pierre and Ben Ortiz both had decent chances in the 59th and 60th minutes, respectively, but both attempts were blocked as the score remain tied. Alejandro Pereira put an attempt on-target with a header in the 80th minute that was saved by the LMU keeper, and Ben Ortiz hit one wide in the 87th minute as the match went to overtime.

Neither team found the back of the net during the first extra period, and the Pilots had a quality chance in the 106th minute when the Lions were called for a foul just outside the top of the box. Luke Hendel took the ensuing free kick for the Pilots, trying to hit one inside the top left corner. But it was wide as the game remained tied.

LMU's (7-4-3, 2-0-0 WCC) Bastien Oberli then provided the game-winner less than a minute later after receiving a pass from Dylan Shockey. Oberli gained possession inside the area, took a couple of touches, and tucked it away to give the home side the win.

The Lions scored their first goal off a corner kick in the 39th minute. Danny Garcia sent in the corner, and after taking a few deflections inside the area. Jack Sauls put it away to make it a 1-0 game.

The Pilots next step out of conference briefly to host the Cal Bears on Tuesday night at Merlo Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
