PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland completed a weekend home sweep with a 6-1 win against the Montana Grizzlies on Saturday at Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots, who beat Montana State 6-1 on Friday, won for the third straight time to improve to 4-2 overall this spring.

Portland secured the doubles point as freshman Angela Schuster and sophomore Laura Okazaki swept the No. 3 position. Junior Emily Soares and sophomore Lourdes Ramalle then clinched with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

Montana evened the score as Lauren Dunlap earned a straight sets win at No. 2 singles, but the Pilots won the final five singles matches.

Junior Jelena Lukic pulled out a third set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles for a hard-fought win against Julia Ronney. Soares then defeated Bianca Bostrom in straight sets at the No. 3 position.

Pilot freshman Marija Elenova provided the clinching point at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Nathalie Joanlanne. Elenova, who joined the team in January, improved to 7-1 on the season.

Ramalle won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles, while Schuster continued her stellar play with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Schuster improved to 5-1 in dual singles and has now won 8-of-9 singles matches dating back to the fall season.

Portland will next take on crosstown rival Portland State on Friday, Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Tennis Center.
