PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior Veronica Nicacio was invited to participate at the 2019 Under 23 Men's and Women's National Team Selection Camps, which are scheduled to take place this summer in Charlottesville, Va.
Â
"It's always been a dream of mine, when I first started I knew I had a long way to go," Nicacio said. "I still have much to improve on but am grateful for the opportunity and chance to perform at a higher competitive level. I'm also grateful for my family, friends and community for giving me the love and support to get me where I'm at now."
Â
The camp will be used to select the U23 women's eight, four, quadruple sculls and four with coxswain that will compete at the 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, scheduled for July 24-28 in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla. The camp also will select a pair to race at USRowing's Under 23 World Championship Trials in early July.
Â
With the Pilots, Nicacio was selected to the All-West Coast Conference Team in 2017 and 2018. This spring, Nicacio was named Preseason All-WCC.
