SALEM, Ore.---The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams closed out a very successful regular outdoor season on Saturday at the West Coast Invite, including several first place finishes.

Â
Redshirt-senior Taryn Rawlings won the women's 1500m run with her time of 4:21.87, while teammates Maddy Lyons, Emily Peterson, and Ellee Becker all reached new personal records in the race, coming in at times of 4:24.48, 4:37.03, and 4:51.51, respectively.
Â

Â
"The team did an amazing job, especially for how small this meet was," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "We had a lot of PRs and all-time top 10 marks. Michal Jones and Stella Gillman and Ellie Erikson all really impressed me but Maddy Lyons was a huge highlight with her regional qualifier in the 1500."
Â
Portland swept both the women's and men's 3000m steeplechases, for the women it was Lacey Conner who came in first place with her time of 10:58.23, and for the men, Henry Hayes claimed the overall win with his time of 8:49.86, which was a nine second PR for the Pilot.
Â
"Henry Hayes was equally impressive winning the steeple with a :09 PR (11
thall-time at UP)," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "He was strong and confident in the final laps. It looks like Simon will get in with his time tonight too. Really impressive job by him."
Â
In the men's 5000m, four Pilots finished with new personal bests, including Peter Allegre at 14:25.84, Tristian Peloquin at 14:36.37, Cole Shugart at 14:54.60, and John T. Kavulich at 14:57.09.Â
Â
Michael Teran-Solano earned the final individual win in the men's 10,000m, coming in with a PR of 29:19.16 in the final event of the day.
Â
"We had a great night and advanced a few more to regionals," added Conner. "Michael Teran-Solano was really impressive running a smart patient race and finished strong. That was a personal best by :31 and he is now qualified in the 5000 and 10,000. A big shout out to Gabe and Manu who paced the 10,000 and Joe who paced the steeple. That is what friends and teammates are for!"
Â
The Pilots are off next weekend, as they enter the post-season and await qualifiers for the NCAA West Regional, set for May 23
rd-25
