PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior Noah Schutte, who also earned academic all-district recognition last year, landed on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, which was announced on Tuesday. The award, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for exceptional achievement both in the classroom and athletic competition.
Â
Schutte, who boasts 3.98 cumulative GPA and is majoring in operations and technology management, was a part of the team that placed second in the nation at the 2017 NCAA XC Championships and third in 2018. His 29th and 21st place finishes at the 2017 and 2018 West Regionals also helped the Pilots clinch back-to-back West Region Titles. The Pilot, who was Second-Team All-American at the 2017 NCAA Track and Field Championships in the steeplechase, also recorded top national times that season in the steeplechase and the 10,000m. This year, Schutte placed 40th at the NCAA West Preliminary meet in the 3000m steeplechase.
Â
For his studies, Schutte has garnered MPSF All-Academic, All-WCC, and USTFCCCA T&F and XC All-Academic honors in his four years at Portland.
Â
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June.
