SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The Portland Pilots women's cross country team has been picked to finish second at the 2019 West Coast Conference Championships in the league's annual preseason poll, only behind no. 6 BYU. At last year's WCC Championships, the Portland women finished second to the Cougars.
BYU has been picked by the 10 head coaches to win this year's WCC Cross Country title with 81 total points and nine first place votes. Portland also received a first place vote.
San Francisco was tabbed third with 68 votes, while Loyola Marymount was slated to finish fourth with 50. Saint Mary's just beat out Gonzaga for fifth place, as the Gaels picked up 46 with the Zags getting 39.
San Diego and Santa Clara hold the seventh and eighth place spots in this year's poll, the Toreros with 35 votes and the Broncos with 32. Pacific (19) and Pepperdine (9) finished out the poll.
Junior Lacey Conner and Senior Maddy Lyons return this year for the Pilots, Conner finishing in 20
thplace and Lyons in 37
