DALLAS, Texas – The Portland men's tennis team looks to continue its unblemished start to the 2020 season with a difficult road trip this weekend. The Pilots (2-0) will take on SMU (5-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. (PT) at the SMU Tennis Complex and then face UTSA at the same location on Sunday at 7 a.m. (PT).
Both matches are expected to be played outdoors, weather permitting, and will have live video coverage available at

SMU's lone loss this year came against the current No. 1-ranked team in the nation, Texas. UTSA is 0-1 with a 5-2 road loss at UC Davis.
Portland opened the season with a pair of decisive home wins against Portland State (6-1) and Idaho (7-0) last weekend.
"We are very excited to be in Dallas for a couple of really challenging matches," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "We are ready for a couple of early season tests and look forward to mainly just getting some feedback on all the work we have been doing. Our schedule is heavily loaded toward the second half of the season, so we have almost been treating these few weeks as 'off-season' weeks, meaning we have been training pretty hard. Each time we compete we can refine that hard work into smarter work. An extra element to the challenge is that it is unseasonably warm, so we will be playing the matches outdoors. We look forward to seeing how we rise to the challenge these couple of days."
