PORTLAND, Ore. --- Freshman Emme Shearer led five Pilots to score in double digits with 13 points and every available Portland player scored as the home team ran away from the Northwest Eagles to win 93-54 on Friday night at the Chiles Center. The Pilots shot 55 percent on the night, and they just missed matching a program record with 30 steals.
Â
The Pilots, who improve to 3-1 on the year, also collected 26 assists on their 38 field goals, which is the third time this year to record more than 20 assists in a game.
Â
It's the second time this season to score in double figures for Shearer, who is in her first year on The Bluff. She hit five of eight from the field and connected on all three of her free throws.
Â
Keeley Frawley added 12 points, and Alex Fowler, Lauren Walker, and Tyler McCliment-Call each scored 10. The 10 points are a career-high for the freshman McCliment-Call.
Â
In the first quarter, the Pilots took advantage of some Northwest turnovers and used an 14-0 run to surge ahead. Shearer gave the Pilots their first double-digit lead with a pair of free throws, and Frawley followed with a lay-up on a nice feed from Andrews to make it a 13-point game. Before the period was over Kelsey Lenzie drained a three, and Jayce Gorzeman converted a lay-up to give Portland a 33-12 edge.
Â
Frawley buried two three's in the second quarter and the lead would stretch to 28 points, with the help of back-to-back lay-ins by Fowler and a three-pointer from Jacksen McCliment-Call.
Â
After the half, Portland built a 43-point advantage as they continued to sink shots and force turnovers. Maddie Muhlheim connected from deep in the third, Kristina Wooldridge provided a nice move down low, and Gorzeman finished off a fast break with a lay-in to give the Pilots an 81-38 lead going to the fourth.
Â
Grace Meza led the Eagles with 13 points off the bench, and Sam Van Loo scored 11.
Â
Haylee Andrews dished a team-high six assists for Portland, and Fowler and Tyler McCliment-Call both corralled a team-best six boards.
Â
The 30 steals for the Pilots are the most since registering 25 at UC Riverside in 2000. Twice Portland has made 31 steals in a game.
Â
On Sunday the Pilots will be in Seattle, Wash., to play the Washington Huskies. Tip-off at Alaska Airlines Arena is set for 2 p.m.
