PORTLAND, Ore.---The Portland Indoor Three came to a close on Sunday evening in the Chiles Center, with members from both the men's and women's track teams posting new personal bests.
Â
Sophomore sprinter Tara Fuiten capped off a stellar weekend individually by making the all-time records list in two events. On Saturday she finished the 60m dash in an impressive 8.01, to claim seventh place in UP program history. Then on Sunday, Fuiten ran a 26.08in the 200m dash, a PR which puts her in eighth place all-time.
Â
"Tara Fuiten had a great weekend for us and is really rounding into form," said women's head coach Ian Solof.
Â
Ellie Erikson garnered an individual win in the women's 800 meter run with her time of 2:18.99, and Makenna Cowan was close behind in third place at 2:24.39.
Â
In the women's mile, both Alexa Hauge and Ellee Becker improved upon their previous bests, Hauge coming in fourth place in 5:13.84 and Becker in seventh in 5:16.95.
Â
Avery Gill and Caroline Dolan both claimed personal records as well in the women's 400 meter dash, with times of 1:01.01 and 1:04.64, respectively.
Â
"These indoor meets were a huge success and will only get bigger in the coming years," added Solof.
Â
For the men, newcomers AJ Reyes (9:00.79) and Kai Vickers (9:01.00) ran solid races in the men's 3K, and both Pilots claimed new personal bests. Vickers went on to claim fifth place in the men's mile with his time of 4:36.60.
Â
In the men's 800 meter run, Kris Braunberger finished third in 1:57.98, Sean Tan got fourth in 2:01.28, and Jake Knoblich collected seventh with his time of 2:04.14.
Â
"We got some great efforts today from all our guys. Standout performances were turned in by Caden Deutscher, AJ Reyes, Kai Vickers and Kris Braunberger," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "I'm said that the home indoor series is over. It was a lot of fun and very well received by the athletes who competed, the coaches, and the spectators. I think we provided a very valuable opportunity for nearly 1,000 athletes to compete indoors this year."
Â
The Pilots are headed back to Seattle for the last time next week for the MPSF Championships, beginning on Friday, February 28th, and concluding on Saturday, February 29th.
