Volleyball brings in three recruits

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots volleyball team has signed three recruits who will join the Pilots for the 2020 season, announced head coach Megan Burton. The trio of new Pilots include Ryann Gregg, Chelsey Harmon and Mia Wesley, will all come into the 2020 season as freshmen.

Ryann Gregg
6'0, OH
Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis HS
Club: NPJ Volleyball

An Oregon-native from Corvallis,
Ryann Gregg has been named the Mid-Willamette Conference volleyball player of the year four years straight, the only athlete in Corvallis High School history to go four-for-four. As a Spartan, she accumulated 1,799 kills and 946 digs, was First Team All-State all four seasons and led Corvallis to a state championship in 2018. While Gregg was a member of the team, the Spartans were league champions each season and finished in fifth, third, first and third place at the 5A state championships.

Burton on Gregg: "We are very excited about having Ryann join our 2020 squad. Ryann has an aggressive arm and will provide some great offense in the front row. Ryann will also provide some depth as a six-rotation pin with solid ball control. We know she will come in and compete immediately for the Pilots."

Mia Wesley
6'0, OH
Orem, Utah / Mountain View HS
Club: Club V

Mia Wesley is an outside hitter from Utah, fresh off being nominated Utah's Ms. Volleyball, the All-American Team by Prep Volleyball and Utah's All-Star Team in 2019 alone. She finished her high school career on top, fighting through the flu to lead the Mountain View Bruin's to their first state volleyball championship in 36 years. In 2019 Wesley recorded 387 kills, 319 digs and hit .225 for the Bruin's. Her offensive prowess has led her to record impressive statistics, including a 28-kill match.

Burton on Wesley: "Mia is a great addition to our pin group. She is a passionate player that has competed at the highest level on the club and high school scene. We know she will bring a high level of athleticism and volleyball IQ to the Pilot squad and we look forward watching her compete in the purple and white."

Chelsey Harmon
6'2, MB
Puyallup, Wash./John Rogers HS
Club: Puget Sound VB Academy

First Team All-South Puget Sound District middle blocker
Chelsey Harmon led the Rams to a league title, going undefeated during the regular season. Harmon's 64 total blocks and .354 hitting percentage placed first on her squad amongst qualifying players, while her 147 kills were second most on the team. She's shown depth as a player, winning offensive player of the year on her team as a sophomore, followed up with most inspirational player as a junior.

Burton on Gregg: "Chelsey comes into a Pilot program that has produced high level middle blockers in the last decade. She has the work ethic and physicality necessary to compete against other Middle Blockers in the West Coast Conference.  Chelsey will be a dominate force for us at the net both as an attacker and as a blocker."
