PORTLAND, Ore.---The Portland Pilots volleyball team will conclude their 2021 exhibition schedule with a home match against the Corban University Warriors on Friday at 12 p.m. at the Chiles Center. This is Portland's second exhibition match after traveling to Washington last weekend.
Â
Live stats for the match against Corban will be available at PortlandPilots.com, but live video will not be streamed.
Â
Last Saturday in Seattle the Pilots gave the eighth-ranked Huskies all they could handle, winning the first set before the Huskies rallied to claim the match 3-1. Portland freshman Mia Wesley and sophomore Jayde Harris led the way against the Huskies with 11 kills each.
Â
Portland and Corban's volleyball squads have only faced each other two times previously, with the Pilots winning on both occasions. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since back in 1980, when Corban was formerly known as Western Baptist.
Â
"We've had a great week of practice, working hard and getting better," said head coach Megan Burton. "The team is looking forward to getting on our home floor and competing again tomorrow against a different opponent. We're grateful to Corban University for making the trip up tomorrow from Salem."
Â
We're an exciting team to watch compete," said Burton. "They bring a lot of energy, heart and hustle to the court and tomorrow we get another shot to go out and do those things at a high level. It will be a fun match to get some more competition experience before conference play begins next week."
