PORTLAND – University of Portland men's basketball has been cleared to compete at the upcoming West Coast Conference Championships in Las Vegas, March 4-9. The team paused activities following a COVID-19 test result that was flagged as positive on Thursday afternoon. That test result has now been determined to be erroneous due to a 'technical error' and since confirmed as negative.

The Pilots (6-14, 0-11 WCC) did not have a pause to team activities due to COVID-19 at any point during the 2020-21 regular season prior to Thursday's announcement.

Portland will fly to Las Vegas on Wednesday in preparation for the first round of the WCC Championships on Thursday at the Orleans Arena.
