PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Health Authority granted approval for spectators to attend University of Portland outdoor athletic events with a 25 percent capacity limitation, it was announced on Wednesday. Portland Athletics has set out the following plans and guidelines for the remaining soccer home matches at Merlo Field this spring. Baseball plans will be announced soon, while all indoor sports (volleyball and tennis) are still not allowed to have spectators.
For the Friday, March 19 women's soccer match vs. Pepperdine at 1 p.m., only pre-approved members of the home and visiting team player pass lists, as well as a limited number of students, will be admitted. General fans will not be admitted at the gate.
For the remaining three scheduled home matches in April, more details will be announced on securing tickets in advance with priority given to player guests, students, season ticket holders and Pilot Club members.
MERLO FIELD GENERAL RULES
- Must have no COVID symptoms and pass a temperature check prior to entering the facility
- Fans must obey six-foot physical distancing guidelines and seating instructions
- Face coverings required at all times, except for when eating/drinking
- Concessions will not be open, but fans can bring in outside food and beverages (sealed beverage containers only – alcohol prohibited)
- No re-entry allowed and gates will close at halftime
- Post-game egress will be administered section-by-section by gameday staff
