PORTLAND, Ore.--- In her debut appearance for the Pilots women's track and field team at the Lewis & Clark Meet on Saturday, Laura Pellicoro landed on the women's outdoor 1500m all-time record list with a time of 4:22.52, good for eighth-place in program history and an individual win in the event. Sprinter Tara Fuiten also finished the day with a new all-time Portland record, earning 10th-place in program history in the women's outdoor 400m dash with a new personal best of 58.13.
Â
Fuiten collected the first individual win of the day for the Pilots with her 400 meter performance, and every Portland women's sprinter in the event finished with a new personal record.
Â
Maya Murphy-Cook claimed third place overall in the women's 100 meter dash in a time of 12.68, and Payton Kirtley finished in fifth at 13.13, while Ella Parker and Caitlin Kirk also picked up new personal bests in the race.
Â
Murphy-Cook also garnered second place in the women's 200 meter dash in a time of 25:76, and Fuiten finished in fourth place overall.
Â
Lauren Block nabbed another individual win for the Pilots in the women's 800 meter run, running the race in a time of 2:19.92.
Â
"It was great to be back on an outdoor track and everyone ran well!" said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Avery Gill made a nice jump in the 400, Lauren Block looked great winning the 800, and Laura Pellicoro was amazing in the 1500. This was an excellent start to the track season."
Â
On the men's side, the Pilots swept the top three spots in the men's 800 meter run, with George Duggan winning it in 1:54.10, Konnor Hathaway securing second place in 1:55.07, and Luke Wichmann taking third in 1:56.00.
Â
Bradley Peloquin notched the last individual win for Portland in the men's 1500 meter run, producing the victory in a time of 3:53.51. Riley Osen also contributed a solid showing in the event, finishing in third place with a time of 3:56.48.
Â
Several Pilots from both the women's and men's track and field teams were competing on the outdoor track for either the first time in a Portland uniform, or for the first time since the 2019 season, following the cancellation of all outdoor meets last spring.
Â
Both the men's and women's teams will next head down to Eugene for the UO Hayward Premiere on April 2nd and 3rd.
