EUGENE/MCMINNVILLE, Ore--- Veerle Bakker of the Pilots women's track and field team produced a second top-10 all-time performance in two days in her Portland debut in the 1500 meter run at the NW Distance Jamboree on Saturday, finishing the race in a time of 4:24.87 to claim 10th-place in program history in the event.
 
Over in McMinnville at the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational hosted by Linfield University, Maya Murphy-Cook and Tara Fuiten collected individual wins on the day in the women's 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash, respectively. Murphy-Cook also landed in third place in the 100 meter dash, finishing in a time of 12.47.
 
"Our sprint group picked up several nice wins at Linfield and everyone is rounding into good shape" said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Veerle came back with another top-10 performance, and McKenna Smith was very solid in her 5k debut."
 
On the men's side, Konnor Hathaway earned a first-place victory in the 800 meter run back in Eugene, coming in at 1:53.80 for a new personal best. Luke Wichmann followed soon after in third-place overall and also recorded a new PR at 1:55.46, while Parker Wilkerson came close behind in fourth-place at 1:55.52 in his first time competing in the 800m race.
 
The Pilot men swept the top three spots in the men's 10,000 meter run, with John Kavulich registering an individual win in a time of 30:41.37. AJ Reyes collected second-place and a new personal record at 31:45.83, and Kai Vickers earned third-place with a time of 31:46.64.
 
"We had a great meet," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "I'm very proud of competitive spirit we competed with today. Very positive energy by the group!"
 
The Pilots men's and women's track and field teams will take a short break before returning to action on Thursday, April 15th for a dual meet with Willamette.
